1. I'm a huge fan of the series but I've never actually read the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. 2. I did not see the Sorcerer's Stone movie until it was on HBO. 3. A bunch of people had tried to convince me that I would love HP but I dismissed it as a kid thing. 4. They were right and I was wrong. 5. I only watched the Sorcerer's Stone movie because DH was away doing some Army training and I was bored. 6. After I saw the movie, I immediately borrowed my mom's copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. 7. After I finished that, I wanted to borrow Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban but we searched everywhere and couldn't find it. 8. So I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire next. 9. Some things in #4 had not made sense to me so I bought #3. 10. I recommend reading the books in the proper order, LOL! 11. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the first of the series I read at its initial release (late to the party, I know!) 12. I'm taking my 4 3/4 year old DD down to our local bookstore on Friday evening to attend a release party. We'll stay for a couple of hours and then I'm going to put her to bed and go back closer to midnight to pick up my copy of Deathly Hallows. 13. Friday will be the first release party I've ever attended, and I guess the only one unless J.K. Rowling changes her mind & writes another book! I gave up on the series half way through book 5. Happy TT.
Have a great time at the party.
Our local book store is having a release party too with costumes, prizes, etc I am sooo looking forward to it! Will be going with all three of my kiddos who are huge fans. Happy TT!
#11...me, too! I was visiting a friend in England and picked it up there. Forgot the jacket cover on the damn plane coming back, too!
Friday's almost here! EEK!
I've never read or seen the movies.
Oh, well..........
Thanks for sharing.
Happy TT!
I must admit to only seeing/reading the first movie/book. I enjoyed it--I just didn't get caught up in all the hype. Happy TT, and have fun at the big party!
Another HP fan! Yeah, my hubby and I love these books. Have all of them, the movies, soundtracks and books on audio. lol I'll be thinkin' of you Friday night - have fun! Happy TTing

You have had the most unusual journey as a Harry Potter fan that I've read yet. Very funny!
We've been to a couple of the release parties and always have had a great time. I'll bet this one is going to be a zoo though because it is the last one. There were always huge crowds at the others. This time Borders starts giving out numbered wrist bands at 9AM Friday for those who preordered. I'll be there to get mine.
Hope you and your little one have fun!
So do you think that you will finish the book in a day or two? I haven't read the last two and should get going on them.
Enjoy your party!
I love the series! I am re-reading the first 6 books in preparation for the release of the last one on the 21st :)
Great list! Happy TT!
Mine's up at http://sasha-says.com
I share your obsession! Have fun at the release party!!
I've read all the books but none was right when they were released. Love them all, though.
The first I read right at its release was Half Blood Prince. I never thought I'd get into it, either. My post this week is my 13 Predictions About Deathly Hallows. Happy TT and have fun at the party.
I'm a much bigger fan of the HP books than I am the movies, so IMHO you should definitely read the book for Sorcerer's Stone. There's so much hilariously great stuff in it that they just couldn't fit into the movie!
Have fun at the party and Happy TT. :-)
I am a rabid Pottermaniac but I have never been to the release party. I am taking my kids to this one, because it is my last shot. *sniff* All I can say is, she better not kill Harry or I will never forgive her.

I am so THRILLED to see all this excitement over a book! I admit I haven't read the book or seen any of the movies, but I am all for anything that generates excitement in reading. There's an independent children's bookseller here in town, and the whole street is doing Hogwart's-related activities to celebrate the book release. A restaurant-bar is even having a Great Snape Debate. How cool is that?
I'm looking forward to Deathly Hollows. It'll be fun.
Number 4 is always a valuable thing to learn, and to recognise :)
Happy t13
I LOVE all the books and movies. Will be attending a book party Friday night with a good friend
I didn't think I would like it, either. I was wrong.
I enjoyed your journey to Harry. My sister gave me a copy of SS and I all but ignored it for a year as she kept asking me how I liked it.
When I finally read it, I was hooked and went through the next three in a few weeks. I did not go to the release party for the 5th, but went with my daughter to the 6th and we're making the 7th a family affair.
I posted about Harry too (predictions). If you can, stop by!
It took me a while to read the books as well. I had this thing about reading "trendy" books so I just chose not too. Then when I taught school I realized I better read them because I couldn't understand 1/2 the book conferences the kids were giving.
Oh, my gosh! I can't imagine not having read the first book! It has so many exciting clues and charming bits.
Happy TT. :) Mine is up here
I think I am the only Non Potter fan on the planet :P
If you'll be heading down to Keplers, look for a 6-5 fella with curly brown hair - in tie-dye if not in a costume, the kids haven't decided yet - accompanying a Luna (butterbeer necklace and too-short pants, 11yo) and a Hermione (overstuffed bookbag and SPEW clipboard, 8yo)!
I'll be staying at home and getting to bed early with the baby so that I can start reading when they get home - I have rehearsals during the day on Saturday and Sunday, plus I don't have the willpower NOT to read it as soon as it's through the door...
The Tour Manager and I have a date to see the movie tomorrow night. And, of course, we'll be picking up our copy of the last book on Saturday.
It's such a richly imaginative world, I'll be sad to see it go away.
Fun list. We've had a good time with the books. My 9yo is better at finding threads and connections than I am. How humbling.
I predict Harry's scar disappears once Voldemort dies. Lyn
I felt the same way, that it was for kids... until I was sick and my best friend gave me a copy of Sorceror's Stone to recouperate with. As soon as I was up and about, I grabbed books 2 and 3, and could hardly wait for the release of 4!
Oh, and you might be interested in my TT for last week, of 13 things I wanted to see in the newest Harry Potter movie. (Sadly, only Fred and George blowing things up made it into the movie...)
My TT for this week is the much more boring 13 things I've bought off eBay. :-)
