Free Museum Day is Sat Sept 29th!

Mark your calendars: on Saturday, September 29th, hundreds of museums and cultural institutions across the country will be offering free admission for 2. Just download the free card at the Smithsonian website. No museum-hopping though, as the card will be collected upon entry.

Here in the Bay Area, participating museums include the Exploratorium and California Academy of Sciences in S.F.; Chabot Space Center in Oakland; the UC Berkeley Art Museum; the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek; and the Blackhawk Museum in Danville.

Museums are a great way to bring concepts studied to life. Unlike in a traditional school where field trips to museums are limited to only a handful of times per year (if that) because of the logistics of bringing hundreds of kids, homeschoolers can take full advantage of their educational value.
